Sue Smith shared the letter above with me. Her father, Hilton O'Brien, wrote this letter to her Uncle Lee Emerson & Aunt Vennie Potette. It was written while Hilton was serving in Chechoslovakia on July 22, 1945. This was durning World War II. Hilton knew the revival was in process at Mt. Gilead & he expresses his desire that he could be there. We have just gone through Memorial Day & Independence Day. We need to always remember the one who have served & those who now serve. And most remember that one who gave the sacrifice of thier life. |

Ms. Vennie Pottee, Dora Pegram, & Sue Smith around 1955. I remember Shelly as a child & when I first looked at this picture, I thought I was looking at Shelly. |
