| Mrs. Ada Clarke 103 years old & Going Strong! |
| Some stories just need to be retold, So let me tell you this one! As I was glancing through the Carroll County New-Leader (local newspaper), I happened to notice a full page story about a very special lady. Her name is Mrs. Ada Clarke & she is the mother of Johnny Clarke who is a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Ms Ada turned 103 years old on March 9th of this year. The article stated that she was still spry as can be and get around quite well. She was born in Clifton on March 9, 1902. She is said to be strong in her faith & is a faithful member of Hickory Flatt Methodist Church. She has served faithfully there for 78 years. She is an devoted Bible reader and prays at least three times a day. Prayer is the first thing on her agenda each day. She starts her morning prayer by naming all her children and concludes by remembering all her generation and the soldiers serving in Iraq. Ms. Ada is quoted as being very proud of her family & this is said to bring a smile to her face that light up in her eyes. She prays especially for the leaders of our country and that they will pass laws that are in line with God's will. She states that she wants abortion stopped. Her family includes J.C. Gordon, whose wife's name is Berdie; Marcia Wildridge, whose husband is Leon; William A. Clarke, whose wife is Mattie; Sue Smith, whose husband's is deceased (Onas); Elise Humphrey, whose husband is Charles; Jo Kemp whose husband is Jerry; and John Clarke whose wife is Jane. J.C., Marcia, Sue, & John all reside in Cedar Grove. William resides in Medina, Elsie in Spring Creek, & Jo in Nashville. This is the part I most enjoyed reading. Ms. Ada lives at home & cooks her own breakfast every morning. It is said to be her heartest & biggest meal of the day. She makes homemade biscuits, fries bacon, & tops off her meal with jam , butter, & coffee. Pecan pie is her favorite desert & she likes cauilflower with french onion dip & crackers. She makes her bed every day & tidies up her house by dusting. After reading this article about Ms. Ada, I can't help but remember what the Bible says in Exodus 20:12 Honor thy father & mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
